Simon West and Paul Walker in talks for Protection

Having just recently watched Taken, last night it is amazing that Hollywood doesn’t try to roll more of these modestly budgeted action thrillers. What lacks in a plethora of big names still garners in $200 million globally. Now Mark Wahlberg is scheduled to be The Prisoners, a story that centers on a Boston man who turns vigilante after his daughter and her best friend are kidnapped.

Now Paul Walker and director Simon West maybe getting involved in a similar action thriller called Protection that has a similar premise. No kidnappings, but it’s a daughter-in-distress movie.

“the twenty-one-year-old daughter of a Mexican judge who’s targeted by mob types (after she sees them kill her father and other family members), and must stay on the run through dodgy places on both sides of the border, while an agent tries to protect her and the bad guy is hot on her trail.”

Walker is in talks to play the agent protecting the girl while West is in talks to direct as long as it fits into his schedule being that he about to remake The Mechanic. West’s films are definintely some that aren’t critically acclaimed but they do gget people in the seats, movies like ConAir and Lara Croft: Tomb Raider. Speculation is with Walker coming off Fast & Furious rehype and West directing that a Lionsgate, Summit or Screen Gems will come knocking down the door for the movie.
