Kevin Feige Talks The Avengers and Thor

The President of Marvel Entertainment and pretty much the in the know go to guy for all the news regarding the latest installments of Marvel characters into films has just recently been able to chat about the upcoming Thor and The Avengers projects that are in development.

Feige recently talked to Empire Online, where he gave an update on the status of the two Marvel superhero epics.

The best place for Feige to start was with the Thor project. Much speculation as to who the long haired god was going to be has ranged from Triple H to Alexander Skarsgard and every long haired blonde actor in between. He didn’t have anything to sya about which person was being looked at for the role but he did say when we’d expect some news about it saying,

“We will probably be having cast announcements in the next month or so on Thor,” Feige said. “We’re looking to cast Loki and Odin soon, and the main female role. And we’ll also hopefully have lockdown shortly, gearing towards the beginning of production, which will be early next year. So I think there will be a lot of announcements between now and then.”

Feige did commend the work that director/actor, Kenneth Branagh has been doing in pre-production giving us some insight as to why he was the best pick for the directorial duties of such an epic character.

“But Branagh’s here, we’re prepping, and he’s put together some spectacular animatics already for our first action scene. We’re digging into the second and third now, and we are just embarking on a rewrite of the draft.”

Feige shifted topics quickly to The Avengers project talking about Zak Penn’s script for the film as well as its relationship to other Marvel projects such Captain America, Iron Man 2 and even Thor. “He’s spending a lot of his time looking into what we’re doing with Iron Man 2, Thor and Captain America, seeing how we’re tying it all together. And he’s beginning to outline the script now - he’ll be doing that over the summer.”

So as much as I love Feige and what he always has to say this interview really doesn’t give us anything that we didn’t already assume or know. That being said it will be nice to finally publish some news on the casting of Thor soon.
