Chris Hemsworth is THOR

According to Nikki Finke’s Deadline Hollywood column, Marvel Films and director Kenneth Branagh have signed actor Chris Hemsworth to portray the Asgardian God of Thunder, Thor in the upcoming Thor and Avengers films.

Hemsworth, who earlier this week signed to play the lead in the upcoming Red Dawn remake, can currently be seen in theaters in J.J. Abrams Star Trek film as George Kirk.

I enjoyed his performance in Star Trek, although he had like a 3 minute role. I’ll reserve judgment until the movie comes out.

Thor lands in Migard on June 17, 2011.

    @Dastardly Dan I agree! I really like the casting they have done so far. He has the facial structure, the youth they wanted but i think he also has the acting chops to pull of the character.

    The scene in Trek where they are naming Kirk, it was very moving and he was fantastic.

    He will make a good Thor with Branagh’s direction.
