Bradley Cooper is The Green Lantern?
So much has been made for the past 4 to 6 months it seems about who will be playing Hal Jordan/The Green Lantern in Warner Brothers live action adaptation of the character to be directed by Martin Campbell. Everyone from Chris Pine and Ryan Gosling has been rumored but that hasn’t stopped the fan pushes for guys like john Hamm, Nathan Fillion and others.
Now the latest rumor to hit the web that isn’t fanboy started comes from Hitfix who has just caught wind that Bradley Cooper (The Hangover, Wedding Crashers and He’s Just Not That Into You) is in talks to for the title role as a frontrunner, but a deal has not been reached.
“I’ve just spent the last hour or so on the phones, tracking down a rumor I heard, and HitFix can exclusively report that Bradley Cooper is now one of the guys most likely to don the suit and slip on the power ring as The Green Lantern for director Martin Campbell. Let’s be clear: they have not hired him yet. But the process is far enough along that this is more than just a meeting or some spot on a wish list. Keep in mind that Campbell likes to see a lot of people when he’s casting… and even when he’s screen-testing, he seems willing to explore as many options as possible… but with the film set to shoot later this summer, they’ve got to start making their choices, and now’s the time to put people in front of the camera and see who really works in the suit.”
I was reading over at First Showing, some thoughts from Alex Billington and he seems to think there is a lot of merit to Drew McWeeny’s claims and that he doesn’t screw around with information like this. As a scooper at AICN he is usually very right before he leaks something like this. I am comfortable with Cooper as a choice. He isn’t one that i have thought of before but looking at hime, his age and his style he can bring something to the character that I may have not thought of. For those that hink a big name should be attached look at the most successful superheroes and heroes over the past few years that have been casted, Bale, Pine, Downey all of which aren’t big names and they all rocked. Cooper is definiitely a good choice for the role and a welcomed newcomer that will make Hal Jordan more beleiveable.
