2 More Names Enter The Green Lantern Casting Buzz

We had posted earlier this week that Bradley Cooper was being highly considered for the role of Hal Jordan in the upcoming live action version of The Green Lantern. Now Latino Review is reporting 2 other candidates being checked out by Campbell and the studio for the role. Brian Austin Green and Shawn Roberts have supposedly been auditioning for the role of the titular character, Hal Jordan.

“Roberts has auditioned for Campbell various times and has even taken a couple of meetings with Campbell concerning the Hal Jordan role. I hear Campbell loves the guy.”

It seems as though when another name is dropped it isn’t someone that I’d ever think of and my thoughts continue to change to that new person, that still remains true with Roberts. It isn’t a secret that Martin Campbell likes to look at many actors before making a decision and though Cooper has taken the lead as far as making a good Hal Jordan, it would seem Shawn Roberts may be my number one choice now.

A year older than me, 25 year old Roberts has just gotten done filming in Campbell’s Mel Gibson thriller, The Edge of Darkness – this may be why he is heavily considered. He definitely has the face that can fill out the mask and the brawniness you’d want in the character.

Another guy who keeps popping up around the Hollywood water cooler whether he his campaigning for himself or whether casting peeps bring him up, Brian Austin Green, the guy who is tapping Megan Fox, is also someone who is in the casting mix for Jordan as well. Latino Review even says that Green auditioned with the mask on. The thing that makes him a long shot, along with Cooper is his age, but his fitness and look is the type that Campbell is looking for.

So here is what we are assuming is the Top 5 candidates being considered by Campbell? (this is by no means a factual list but an assumed one).

1. Shawn Roberts

2. Chris Pine

3. Bradley Cooper

4. Brian Austin Green

5. Ryan Gosling

    Just my opinion, but I think it's a mistake to cast big name actors into the movie. I think part of the reason Twilight was so successful is because the actors weren't household names, which enabled them to actually become the character for the movie goers. Because I'd never heard of or seen him before, Robert Pattinson IS Edward. No disney acting auditions way anybody ever thought of Brad Pitt as “Joe Black”. He was simply Brad Pitt playing a character. Big stars are going to bring along their big egos and entourages. Find actors who embody the characters and the movie will be a success.
