Bruce Willis Still Playing the Action Hero! Circling 3 Action Film Projects

Here is an idea. Let’s put Bruce Willis in action film where he plays an ex-special ops expert who has to go back into the world of high-tech assassins to protect the woman he loves. Sounds a lot like Mission Impossible III to me.

In a story from THR Risky Business Blog, action icon Bruce Willis, who recently turned 54, is currently eyeing the starring role in Red, a WildStorm/DC Comic being developed at Summit Entertainment.

The role calls for Willis to be a former black-ops agent who has gone into retirement but is forced back into action when a high-tech assassin comes a-callin’ to threaten him and his girlfriend. Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mark Vahradian are producing, and Erich and Jon Hoeber are writing the screenplay, which is based on the WildStorm/DC Comic. (DC’s Gregory Noveck is exec producing.)

Other projects that Willis is circling are all three action star flicks - not bad for a 54 year old. Willis has been in discussions to shoot and fight his way through a thriller for NuImage/Millenium titled Inventory, the CIA tale Red for Summit and the mob biopic Scarpa for Morgan Creek.

Willis is still a great action star sell having revived his John McClane character back in 2007 from the Die Hard series that made him a star. Unlike Harrison Ford’s Indiana Jones I still saw McClane as a cowboy cop who wanted to save the day from some terrorists with accents. I am glad Willis is continuing the typecasting roles he is good in but that is not to say I enjoyed his comedy stints or his family roles either. Willis is suprisingly versatile and has come a long way since Moonlighting that is for sure.
