Mark Millar and Matthew Vaughn Team-Up for American Jesus
Mark Millar and Matthew Vaughn are teaming up together to bring a film adaptation of the 3 book comic-series, American Jesus. Millar recently resorted to the notion his Superman vision wasn’t going to come true anytime soon but I guess this is a good way to move on.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the Kick-Ass! collaborators are in talks for the re-team and Vaughn is really wanting it as his next directing vehicle.
“The story centers on the return of Christ in the modern world, leading to a final confrontation with the Antichrist in a bid to save humanity. The book, made with artist Peter Gross, originally appeared as a three-issue miniseries in 2006 with the title “Chosen.” When Millar, one of the top writers in the comics field, decided to continue the story as a trilogy of miniseries, the overarching title became “American Jesus.” The second installment is subtitled “The Resurrection” and is due out in the fall.”
I am a fan of a majority of Mark Millar’s creator owned comic works such as Wanted and Kick-Ass! I loved Wanted and even though I have only read bits and peices of Kick-Ass! It is one of the coolest series. Vaughn is one of my favorite directors as of now and would have loved to have him direct a larger super-hero property but I think his collaboration with Millar is a good one. I have yet to read American Jesus but I think I am going to have to check it out soon.
