Green Lantern Begins Shooting this September
So I am doing my best to keep up with all the news for the Green Lantern film due to the fact I am super excited about it. So in keeping with the most up to date stuff it means writing about the not so interesting. Last we heard filming for the movie was going to start in the spring but as things never go according to plan the production is slated to begin this fall.
We already know Martin Campbell is directing but that is it, no one has been cast as Hal Jordan or anyone else.
According to Production Weekly it looks like Warner Bros. Pictures will start shooting the Green Lantern this September in Australia.
Green Lantern was created in 1940 by writer Bill Finger and artist Martin Nodell starting with Green Lantern, Alan Scott, and a more magic/mystical based character. However, Hal Jordan was introduced in 1959, a second-generation test pilot and an ordinary man who was given the power ring and battery (lantern) by a dying alien named Abin Sur. When Abin Sur’s spaceship crashed on Earth, the alien used his ring to seek out an individual to take his place as Green Lantern: someone who was “utterly honest and born without fear.” The realm of Green Lantern changed into a mix of comic book superheroism and sci-fi adventure. I think that is why I love it so much it blends my two favorite genres into one.
We do know that Green Lantern is scheduled to hit theaters December 17, 2010 from Warner Bros. Pictures.
