Garelick sets deal with Columbia for Romantic Comedy Pitch
One the screenwriters I have enjoyed lately, is Jeremy Garelick, who penned The Break Up. Garelick is now set to write a new romantic comedy for Columbia and possibly direct the film as well.
“…the comedy is about what happens to the relationship of two male best friends and when their children fall in love.”It’s what happens when your best friend’s son knocks up your daughter,” Garelick said. The comedy is inspired by Garelick’s own romance with his wife, Samantha. Their parents were best friends, and Garelick added the pregnancy part as a comedic device.”
The film is yet to be titled but the deal is said to be a possible 7 figure for Garelick. According to the article Garelick is rewriting The Hangover, a film being put out by The WB. The article also said Garelick wrote a small screen project – “a pilot for 20th Television and Principato-Young called “Monkey Business,” which he described as a “Scrubs” set in the world of investment banking.”
I really like this guys work and humor so I am excited to hear about his next film project which actually seems quite interesting and different. The fact some of it is based off is own life makes it that much better. I also like his pilot being that I am a big Scrubs fan.
