Variety is reporting that Dakota Fanning, age 15, is joining the cast of Runaways. That’s right she will be playing one of the super-powered teens in the Brian K. Vaughn created Marvel comic book series. OK so I am lying, you busted me. Fanning will actually be joining the cast of another Runaways film, the biopic about Joan Jett.

Variety tells us that Fanning is in talks to play lead singer Cheri Currie in The Runaways.

The film is a biopic of the ’70s all-girl band of the same name. Kristen Stewart is already attached to star as Joan Jett. According to the article, Fanning who is 15, is just as old as Currie was when she started singing for the group. She eventually got caught up in the world of drugs and partying - I do not know if I want to see Fanning hitting the sauce while doing lines of blow - that might be too much but this movie seems like it is gonna be something more than Josie and the Pussycats. The film is written and directed by Floria Sigismondi. Production is expected to commence in late spring.
