Yogi Bear Film Gets Director
The long-in-development film will now be in 3-D and it has a nw director, Eric Brevig. Brevig is a veteran visual effects supervisor whose credits include The Day After Tomorrow and Men in Black. Brevig also directed the successful Journey to the Center of the Earth, starring Brendan Fraser. Brevig replaces the previous director, Ash Brannon. The Surf’s Up director was attached when Yogi was set to be in 2-D. The screenplay is being written by Joshua Sternin and Jeffrey Ventimilia, executive producers of That 70s Show.
The film will offer a new take on the misadventures of Yogi Bear and his sidekick, Boo Boo, while retaining the Jellystone Park setting from the cartoons. Yogi will be a combination of live action and CG, similar to the recent Alvin and the Chipmunks feature. I could not bring myself to watch Alvin and the Chipmunks, but I guess this will be another good “family film”.
