Rumor: Johnny Depp and Sean Penn as One of The Three Stooges?

A while back we reported that the Farrelly brothers would be remaking the classic comic trio for the big-screen. Well now it is being speculated that Johnny Depp may perhaps play one of The Three Stooges.

According to JustJared, the Farrelly’s want Johnny Depp and they want Sean Penn up for one of the Stooges as well.

“They want Johnny to play Moe and Sean Penn will be Larry - they’re still looking to cast Curly,” an insider says.

This is a speculative post right now and nothing will probably be confirmed until after the Farrelly brothers finish, Walter the Farting Dog, which will star the Jonas Brothers, and start filming this spring.

I would love to see Depp in this movie - he would make a great Moe. I loved him as the Buster Keaton type romeo in Benny and Joon and beleive he has the comedic acting chops to play a great Stooge. Sean I have never been a fan of but he is talented and would probably be fine as Larry. It definitely seems that the comic duo of the Farrelly brothers wants some A-List talent for this re-make.
