Jason slashed the box office this weekend, with his Friday the 13th comeback earning an estimated $42.2 million dollars. That is the biggest weekend take of the year thus far and it beats the cumulative earnings of any previous Friday the 13th film, except Freddy vs. Jason. I smell sequel.
My favorite pick,He’s Just Not That Into You, placed second this weekend after taking the box-office last week. $19.6 million to its name. In just two weeks, this charmer has earned an estimated $55 million. Coming in at third is Taken earned another $19.2 million, bringing its earnings up to $77.9 million. It should reach $100 million in the states before it completely drops off the top ten. Its current worldwide grosses stands at $146.9 million.
The Clive Owen thriller, The International, didn’t seem to get the money they wanted so the banking thriller probably won’t secure a bailout this upcoming weekend either only madeking a whopping $10 million its opening weekend. Though it might simply because the choices are limited with a new Tyler Perry comedy, Madea Goes to Jail and another teenage raunchy comedy, Fired Up.
