Warner’s Chief, Alan Horn, talks Upcoming Superhero projects!
So a lot of the bigger websites like Collider and AICN have been spouting their formative mouths or rather keyboards expelling sites that generate false rumors about the possible next Batman film, especially in regards to building site traffic. I have to say I am with them on the frustration. Especially being a smaller tier site in the community.
Fused Film does not generate rumors but we do report them, only if it fits a media heavy topic and it is being widely reported by other sites and with it carries very substantial weight. (That means if it is really something good and from somebody deep in the biz.) Places like Latino Review, Slashfilm, AICN, and more are places we get rumors from because they are reliable 99% of the time. We understand that rumors are a part of the business but we also understand the issue they create as far flummoxing your credibility with your audience, etc. If you are a site like us, bigger than us, smaller, whatever, please do not disgrace all of us in the community by reporting crap that is made up just in an attempt to build traffic. There is a fine line and significant difference in saying what you want from future movie, what you think should happen, versus saying that someone like Eddie Murphy is going to play the Riddler and here is a quote or a hint from a scoop I got from a friend of a brother who has a friend who was the boom mic holder in Batman Begins who knows a guy.
So that being said our friends over at Collider.com instead of going to the great lengths at giving some fantastic possibility of Nolan or whoever doing the third Batman movie and writing stuff that makes speculation or rumor seem small, they went the respectable route, Ah yes! traditional journalistic techniques still exist.
The site spoke with President of Warner Brothers, Alan Horn, regarding the rumors of The Dark Knight, the upcoming Green Lantern, and the Justice League.
Here is what the site and the prez had to say,
Collider: I ask when does he think we might hear rumblings of another “Dark Knight” movie… he says:
Horn: “We’ve been talking to Chris Nolan and what we have to do is get him in the right place and have him tell us what he thinks the notion might be for a great story, but Chris did a great job and we’d love to have him come back and do another one.”
Collider: I ask if he’s the type of filmmaker that they wouldn’t rush and that he wouldn’t have to meet a certain release date. Basically, the story is more important than a release date.
Horn: “Yes. The story is everything and we are very respectful of Chris. We have a wonderful relationship with him and we are going to be respectful of his timing and we want to get it right. Also, I think the fans expect that - they want us to make a terrific movie - we have to give them another great movie.”
Collider: I then ask when we might be seeing another Superman.
Horn:“Probably in the next couple of years. We’re very anxious to bring Superman back also.”
Collider: I then say Green Lantern?
Horn: “Also on the board. On the runway. Hasn’t taken off yet, but we’re close.”
Collider: I finally ask what he thinks the next Superhero property might be from Warner Bros.
Horn: He says “I think Green Lantern is probably the best guess but I can’t promise it at this moment.”
Collider: And Justice League?
Horn: “Not yet.”
So there you have it! Green Lantern seems to be all Warner Bros. is thinking about as far development goes. Batman fans need to chill.
