Top 10 Greatest Christmas Movie Characters of All Time!

You know, there is never really a bad time for a movie list and this is one that just came to me earlier this morning. I decided to put together a list of some of the most memorable and awesome Christmas Movie Characters we have ever seen on-screen. So enjoy and feel free to tell us you disagree in our comment section or our new message board.

  • Clark Griswold - National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation - Perhaps the greatest symbol of the holidays. Clark Griswold (Chevy Chase) is a true American, who loves celebrating Christmas with family. A house stocked with lights that will make any electric bill jump, dreams of a swimming pool and a Christmas bonus, Griswold gives us one the most memorable holidays films ever.
  • John McClane - Die Hard and Die Hard 2 - Yes! these movies do take place during Christmas so they do count. McClane (Bruce Willis) makes sense as a choice. We love his ability to give any terrorist a HO, HO! and a “Yippie-Kie-Yie-Yay Mother F***er!” He is also very good running without shoes on.
  • George Bailey - Its A Wonderful Life - The truly and perhaps best Christmas movie of all time. George Bailey (James Stewart) represents to us what the true spirit of Christmas is and how we can get lost on the distractions of the season.
  • Scott Calvin - The Santa Clause Series - Much like Bailey, Scott Calvin (Tim Allen) gives us a great “meaning of Christmas” lesson in this tale about a Dad who gets a hold of some Christmas magic or rather puts on the wrong suit.
  • Bob Wallace - White Christmas - Bob Wallace (Bing Crosby), harnesses the spirit of Christmas and Broadway when he helps his old WWII General have a wonderful Chistmas memory by putting on a live TV performance in his honor. Singing some of the most memorable songs along the way, he also finds his true love.
  • Francis Xavier Cross - Scrooged - Frank (Bill Murray) is your typical boss who hates the holidays, it means low productivity and loss of profits. Frank, however gets “Scrooged” in this adult modern comedy version of the classic Dicken’s tale. His lesson is learned and makes him a very memorable holiday figure.
  • Ted Hanover - Holiday Inn - Ted Hanover (Fred Astaire) was a mis-guided sideman to friend Jim Hardy. Making a living with his ability to woo audiences with his spectacular dancing, he steals 2 of Hardy’s partners througout the film to further his career. Ted eventually realizes he is no match for the holidays or love.
  • Cousin Eddie - National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation - Cousin Eddie (Randy Quaid) truly embodies the parts of Christmas’ we hate - the in-laws. Eddie, is a down and out loser who shows up for Christmas, uninvited and unannounced. However, family is family and he is just part of what makes this movie hilarious and interesting.
  • Ralphie Parker - A Christmas Story - Ralphie (Peter Billingsley) is the embodiment of a kid during the Christmas season. He really makes us see and understand what goes on in the mind of a child who just wants that perfect gift and what he will do to get it.
  • Claus - Santa Claus: The Movie -  Claus (David Huddleston) is an aging, peasant woodcutter who delivers his gifts with his wife Anya to the children of a village. One night, Claus, Anya and their reindeer, Donner and Blitzen, are rescued from certain death in a blizzard, only to be transported to the vast “ice mountains, way up at the top of the world.” Their expected arrival is heralded with the appearance of several Elves, or, as Claus’s people call them in their legends, the Vendequm, led by a wise, venerable old elf named Dooley he explains to Claus and Anya that they have been brought here to spend eternity crafting and giving a fantastic array of toys to every child on Earth. So their we have the origin of Santa and Claus does it well.
