Rumor: Nolan Back for More Batman? Weisz as Catwoman?
Nolan Back to Direct, Rachel Weisz to play Catwoman and Bale’s Bruce getting “sexier”?
More Batman Rumors Again!
Apparently with DVD sales, Box Office reports and even a re-release in IMAX, TDK is one the biggest movies in recent history and with that means all eyes are on a sequel and Chris Nolan directing it. Nolan has been hesitant to sign-up for a third film due multiple issues of story ideas, outdoing yourself since the last one is a “success” and ultimately just being able to continue the journey with everyone from the original cast that could come back. Also with TDK being back in the interwebs and media light, it is natural that more rumors about the sequel and future of the film franchise.
Well now E! Online is reporting a rumor that Nolan is back for a third film and that Catwoman will be expected. According to the article regarding Nolan’s acceptance to direct a third film,
“Despite some recent interviews in which he down-played the possibility of returning as director again, Christopher Nolan (who helmed Knight) will for sure be back directing the third flick, we’re assured by a production mole. Christian Bale will obviously rejoin his director pal, and we’re very pleased to report that he’ll be playing a ’sexier’ Bruce Wayne. This is heaven-sent news, as, let’s face it, Bale couldn’t have looked any more constipated in that last flick.”
In regards to Catwoman, Rachel Weisz from The Mummy fame, is the proposed peg to play the sexy feline thief, with the article saying,
“Warners sources are leaking to us that Rachel Weisz is being considered for the Catwoman role.”
I still do not think he would come back to direct, maybe produce and oversee the development of the script but not direct. As far as Rachel Weisz is concerned, I am liking this rumor, certainly she is more capable than an Angelina Jolie type but also she is the right style for Selina Kyle/Catwoman, especially in Nolan’s universe. She proved able to do physical stunts when she did The Mummy Returns and she can definitely pull off the tenaciousness and vivaciousness of Selina Kyle. I guess the issue for me is that I didn’t expect that or think of it first.
Also Bale’s Bruce Wayne is supposedly getting a little more suave and “sexier” in this third film, according to the article from E! Online. This is interesting and I think perfect for the direction they will most likely go with Batman. Meaning that since the second movie ended with Bats on the run and must now seek redemption, Bruce Wayne must focus more on his alter ego (himself) in order to keep his cover as Batman deeper. This is also something that fits into the relationship factor of the story which wil most likely focus on Bruce and Kyle getting it on.
Anyway it seems like Batman talk on the Interwebs will never end. So speculate this for now! but I would assume Nolan is probably not signed-on yet and Weisz is probably just another rumor at this point.
