McKidd Still Thor Contender? What About Highlander?
Actor Kevin McKidd recently spoke with IGN and told them that he is,
“still a contender for the lead role in Thor, and that there’s been a lot of back and forth”
about the project lately, however nothing has been determined. He acknowledged that Kenneth Branagh is directing it, a choice that makes him even more excited about the film. However, Branaugh has not been officially announced by Marvel, yet.
We recently reported back in August that McKidd was up for the role of Conner Macleod in the new Highlander reboot.
So my question is would McKidd make a better Macleod or Thor?
Personally I think he would be better off as The Highlander. He is Scottish so that makes him perfect for the role of Macleod and he has the size and look that would make him believable.
As far as Thor is concerned he has the look (blonde hair, blue eyes) that would mirror Thor and you grow out his hair but I do not think he has the “buffness” for the role, even if he got a personal trainer. I think Daniel Craig is still a better choice for the title character, but since he declined, McKidd could pass as Craig’s younger brother, so that’s probably what Marvel is thinking.
Either way if he got both roles I would be excited. McKidd was last seen in the unsuccessful, 2007 NBC series, Journeyman and is now a regular on the show Rome, which was just cancelled by HBO.

By the way - In case anybody cares, my choice for the role of Thor is:
Sean Bean (Barormir - LOTR, Alec Trevelyn - GoldenEye)
