Gough and Millar to Direct “Salisbury” for Debut

Geek writers of Smallville fame, Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, are putting their pens down to try their hand directing with the film Salisbury, for Disney.

In an article from the trade pub, Variety, the two writers planned this project to make their leap into directing. According to the trade,

“Gough and Millar will produce the film in a package deal worth seven figures…The scribes have been building momentum toward their eventual goal to become directors, and they scripted “Salisbury” specifically to make that leap.”

The story also mentions that Gough and Millar get a “first-look deal” and that

“Disney and the scribes are keeping the plot under wraps, but the title refers to a fictional town. The plot revolves around a young cast and a supernatural element. The film is expected to cost around $40 million.”

Certainly Gough and Millar can write decent entertaining scripts but some of their penning skills have bitten me and the fanboy community bad lately. Smallville has gotten better since their departure, Mummy 3 was terrible and the fact that they are producing Hannah Montana: The Movie is weird (however thats probably part of how they got the deal to direct and produce Salisbury). Maybe the fact they have sole creative control from the page to the screen on this project they might surprise us. FYI – we reported a month ago that Millar and Gough would be penning Robotech for the big-screen and that hasn’t changed either.
