Movie Review: Zack and Miri Make a Porno

Zack and Miri Make a Porno

Synopsis: After the success of KNOCKED UP, Seth Rogen pairs up with another comely comedienne in ZACK & MIRI MAKE A PORNO. In this Kevin Smith comedy, two desperate friends (Rogen and SLITHER’s Elizabeth Banks) decide to earn a little extra money by creating their own adult film, but they also discover that they may be more than just pals.

Zack and Miri Make a Porno just might be the best work of Kevin Smith’s career. Having followed his work since “Clerks” I’ve always looked forward to “the new Kevin Smith film” and with the exception of “Jersey Girl” have enjoyed every film he has directed in his career (acting is another story).

The film is exactly what you would expect from a Kevin Smith movie, i.e. Excellent dialogue, a sweet story laced with dirty words, and pubescent comedy. This one is set outside of the View Askewniverse so don’t expect Jay and Silent Bob to poke their heads in at any point in time. The cast is terrific and everyone gives great performances (standouts being Seth Rogan and Craig Robinson).

Smith’s greatest strength has always been his ability to write funny, genuine, intelligent dialogue and that’s what I loved the most about the film. The comedy is spot on (watch for the awesome cameos by Brandon Routh and Justin Long) and I was laughing throughout the film.
