The Fused 5 - Top 10 Best Bond Villains
In our latest Fused 5, Five Days of Bond leading up to the next installment of the Bond Franchise, Quantum of Solace, we decided to look at the Top 10 villains of the Bond-verse.
The James Bond novels and films are notable for their memorably despicable villains and henchmen. From Le Chiffre’s encounter with Bond in the original Casino Royale novel in 1953 to his appearance in the 2006 film adaptation alongside the sinister Mr. White, Bond’s foes have been one of the most important reasons for the book and film series’ continued popularity but these are the big bosses not the Henchmen.
- Auric Goldfinger
- Ernst Stavro Blofeld
- Dr. Julius No
- Francisco Scaramanga
- Emilio Largo
- Elliot Carver
- Mr. White
- Alec Trevelyan
- Mr. Big/ Dr. Kananga
- Rosa Klebb
If there is one thing that all these baddies have in common, it is the pure hate and dislike for James Bond. But undeniably Mr. Goldfinger is the most ruthless, trying to detonate an atomic bomb inside Fort Knox, irradiating the gold supply and increasing his own gold’s value while pouring “gold” on the Bond girl. Perhaps, Blofeld maybe the worst but since actor, Gert Fröbe was so awesome, Blofeld got # 2. Blofeld was perhaps the most ambitious villain ever trying to acquire nuclear weapons for extortion purposes, incite a war between the US and the USSR by subverting a spacecraft, extort the world with viruses that destroy crops and livestock, create a death-ray satellite capable of destroying targets anywhere on Earth and the worst - killing Bond’s wife!
The villains make the movies and make Bond do what he does without them James Bond would be out of a job and M wouldn’t have anything to complain about.
