Yogi Bear Gets Big Screen adaptation from Warner Brothers

Hey Boo Boo - Let’s Get ourselves a movie and another picnic basket

Warner Bros. is bringing Yogi Bear to the bigscreen, developing a film version of the classic Hanna-Barbera cartoon, with Surf’s Up co-helmer/co-writer Ash Brannon attached to direct.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Joshua Sternin and Jeffrey Ventimilia are penning the screenplay.

The project, culled from Warners’ vast library, is planned as a live-action/animated hybrid along the lines of Fox’s 2007 hit Alvin and the Chipmunks. Much of the movie will be live-action, but Yogi Bear and sidekick Boo Boo will be done in CG.
I think is an obvious choice especially with the success of the Scooby Doo movies as well as the Alvin and the Chipmunks movie. These hybrid animated films are going to be seen a lot more. Yogi Bear was one of my favorite cartoons as a kid so this one excites me.
