Kevin Says, “Lethal Weapon 5 is…” + Columbus Short talks his involvment

IGN Movies interviewed actor Columbus Short who is currently promoting the horror thriller Quarantine, and was asked about rumors regarding his potential role in Lethal Weapon 5.

According to Short, he is in talks to play Murtaugh’s son in Lethal Weapon 5 from screenwriter Shane Black and producer Joel Silver, which Warner Bros. is allegedly fast tracking into production.

Last I heard they wern’t moving on this but with news of studios putting out many projects for this upcoming year doesn’t surprise me. The thing with this isn’t Columbus’ involvment but rather the fact they are making this movie, which to me is such a pointless and stupid idea.

Lethal Weapon is such an old franchise that isn’t worthy of being re-ignited but because Indy had his geriatric go around they want to bring back Murtaugh and Riggs. I mean didn’t they say all they wanted to in the first 4 movies. Nobody likes Mel Gibson anymore, so that is an immediate non-draw to the film, who wants to see an old Danny Glover running around borderlining a heart attack and some kind of prostate problem, Joe Pesci is ancient and won’t have much to do, thus old isn’t good as new.

That being said screw this movie, screw Lethal Weapon 3,4 and 5. Kevin says Lethal Weapon 5 is a ridiculous re-ignition of a dwindled 80s buddy cop franchise that modern audiences today won’t care about.
