Trailer of the Week: The Soloist
The Set-Up - Starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jamie Foxx, Soloist is opening in theaters November 21st, the film is based on the true story of musical prodigy Nathaniel Ayers (Foxx), who developed schizophrenia in his second year at Juilliard and ended up homeless on the streets of downtown L.A. where he performs the violin and cello. The drama is based on the relationship the musician developed with Steve Lopez (Downey Jr.), a Los Angeles Times reporter whose column and book informed the script.
This certainly looks like one of those Oscar time type movies with some fire power in the actor department combining Downey and Foxx. To me the movie reminds me of a mix between the Fischer King and August Rush. But I am sure there will be tears and laughter and Downey might have his third great performance of the year if he is not overshadowed by Foxx.
