National Treasure 3 in the Works!

Jerry Bruckheimer is rolling out all the stops for Disney. Prince of Persia is on its way, The Lone Ranger and Pirates 4. Now you can chalk a third National Treasure on that list.

Again at this week’s Walt Disney Studios Showcase, both Jerry Bruckheimer and Nicolas Cage came out on stage to officially announce the third film in the National Treasure franchise. According to Movieweb.com

Disney Chairman Richard W. Cooke, who presided over the event invited the two men to step in front of the audience. He then asked, “How come Ben Gates never gets arrested?” And with that, Cage answered, “I guess well find out with National Treasure 3, wont we?”

Plot details were not discussed, but it was made clear that director Jon Turteltaub would be back behind the camera, with most of the original cast returning as well.

I am excited about this news as well and while I didn’t enjoy the second movie as much as I wanted too, the third movie seems interesting especially based on how the second one ended with the exchange between Bruce Greenwood and Nic Cage regarding the Book of Secrets. These movies are like the Mummy films, fun and entertaining. Lets just hope that this movie is better than Mummy 3. Disney seems poised to keep their motion picture formula going with live-action blockbuster films, Bruckheimer style and Pixar animation stuff. That being said, when am I gonna get an Incredibles sequel?
