Green Lantern Concept Art + Ideas from writer Marc Guggenheim
Latino Review have slapped an early draft of the Green Lantern script with a spoiler-filled B+. The site also comments on those David Boreanaz-as-Hal Jordan ideas, rumors. Evidently, the final script is currently out to other more younger actors. I still like Boreanaz for the role, Adam disagrees and thinks his boy Clive Owen deserves a peg. As long as its not Affleck, Damon or anybody stupid like that I am cool!
With DC Comics and Warner Bros recently stating that they are looking to develop more of their properties into solo films and scrub the Justice League film some interesting news regarding the development of Green Lantern has surfaced. First off, writer Marc Guggenheim spoke to Comic-Con.net about the upcoming developments in the Amazing Spider-Man comic, and while doing so he revealed some news about Green Lantern.
Guggenheim said:
I’ve been working my ass off on Green Lantern…I’m ready for a weekend off. I really can’t say too much about it. I’ve sworn a blood oath of secrecy. I will tell you it features Hal Jordan and is an incredibly faithful rendition of the character. It honors everything everyone loves about the hero. We approach it from a fan’s perspective. Every step of the way, we ask ourselves what we want to see and what the fans will want to see. I think we have a script that will actually satisfy on those levels. Right now I’m just doing a rewrite for the studio with Greg [Berlanti] and Michael [Green]. We’ll turn that in next week. We just keep moving forward. It’s really good stuff!
Almost as exciting, images of the concept art used in the pitch for the film have made their way to the web, courtesy of Cinematical. Brian Murphy did the images, which clearly used David Boreanaz (Angel, Bones) for the model of Hal Jordan. Interestingly, while the images suggest that the character is Hal Jordan (we see Ferris Air, where he works, in one of the shots), the costume design is more similar to that of a different Green Lantern, Kyle Rayner.
Recently, IESB.net got a hold of the script that Guggenheim, Greg Berlanti and Micheal Green wrote stating that
within just reading the first few pages, I knew Berlanti, Guggenheim and Green had gotten the character right.
I certainly think the direction they are going is perfect. I also like the David Boreanaz choice for the pitch model and would welcome him in the role of Hal Jordan most certainly. I like the liberties they took by giving him the Kyle Rayner costume look since it is a sleeker look and bodes well with David Boreanaz’s body style.
