Gordon-Levitt Talks Cobra Commander w/MTV
While cycling through MTV Movie Blog this morning I popped upon this story after reading about K.Smith talking more Trek!
While we have seen many of characters for the live adaptation of GI JOE, one remains hidden and that is Cobra Commander. MTV Movie Blogs recently caught up with, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and got his take on what we can expect from this iconic bad guy.
Gordon Levitt told MTV Movie Blogs,
“The cool thing about my character was that it’s not that digital. I get to put hours of prosthetic makeup on and see a different creature altogether. I’ve seen how he looks and it’s really cool.”
About the voice, Joseph went on to say, “I love that voice from the cartoon. Chris Latta is a fantastic voiceover artist, but if you did that exact voice it would sound ridiculous in a live-action movie. I guess it’s half Chris Latta and half me.”
This is particularly interesting to me because the voice is such an iconic part of the character. I wonder how Sommers and the rest of the creative team intend on bringing his voice forward on screen? I mean to me it would be like replacing James Earl Jones’ voice as Vader with Chad. I have already said this movie concerns and me and looks kind of stupid so this doesn’t help that insight at all! That being said with a release in August and a Transformers release in June it will be a Hasbro summer so break out your vintage 80s outfits and head to the cinema.
