Ghostbusters 3 to mentor in a “Next Gen” team? Apatow crew anybody?

So I first saw this on Geeks of Doom last night and now other sites are reporting it. Actor and Screenwriter Harold Ramis spoke with the Chicago Tribune via email and here is what he said regarding the last week confirmation of Ghostbusters 3.
“yes, columbia is developing a script for GB3 with my year one writing partners, gene stupnitsky and lee eisenberg. judd apatow is co-producing year one and has made several other films for sony, so of course the studio is hoping to tap into some of the same acting talent. aykroyd, ivan reitman and i are consulting at this point, and according to dan, bill murray is willing to be involved on some level. he did record his dialogue for the new ghostbusters video game, as did danny and i, and ernie hudson. the concept is that the old ghostbusters would appear in the film in some mentor capacity. not much else to say at this point. everyone is confident a decent script can be written and i guess we’ll take it from there.
best, harold”
Mentoring Ghostbusters? This is fits into exactly what Adam and I were speculating on one of our older podcasts where we mentioned our concerns and hopes about this idea of an Apatow crew. We talked about how Apatow’s crew of actors could be a new team ushered in to fight the ghosts and ghouls but we also stated some concerns over profanity, perversion and dropped trow. I could see one of those guys playing some kind of ghost too…maybe a trained ghost. I would love to see odes to the original, such as a the painting from 2 sitting in the headquarters somewhere. Apatow’s involvement is as of now pure rumor and has not been confirmed. However, there is a case to be made for his involvement with former cast of Ramis, Aykroyd, Murray and Winston. Also I think Ben Stiller and other Brat Pack guys could be pegged for roles.
