Cold Warrior - Shane Black to direct spy film for Universal!

Legendary screenwriter, Shane Black has signed on to direct Cold Warrior for Universal Pictures.

According to Variety, the story is based on a script by Chuck Mondry, and revolves around a spy from the Cold War era who comes out of retirement to team with a younger agent from the new school to confront a domestic terrorism threat orchestrated by Russia.

Black is best known for directing Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang and penning classic action films such as: the Lethal Weapon movies, The Last Boy Scout and The Long Kiss Goodnight.

Recently there was speculation that Black was penning a 5th Lethal Weapon movie but not much has been heard about that. This Cold Warrior seems cool and I think it is neat to relive some of the Cold War stuff on film. So many spy flicks take place in Arab countries so the modern audience can identify better. I could totally seem him going and getting Robert Downey to do this movie or even Val Kilmer. As long as this movie isn’t in the vein of Rambo or Wahlberg’s Shooter film that was released last year than I am good.
