Branagh in talks to direct THOR!

Director Kenneth Branagh is negotiating to direct Thor the Marvel comic that will be turned into a live-action film by Marvel Studios to be released in 2010.The choice of Branagh is surprising, considering Branagh hasn’t directed an action-heavy film since his debut on Henry V.

Thor follows disabled medical student Donald Blake, who has an alter ego as the hammer-wielding Norse god Thor. Written by Mark Protosevich, it is an adaptation of the Thor comic book.

Branagh is a prolific actor as well, appearing in over 50 projects in TV and film. I personally am not familiar with any of his work, (acting or directing) so I don’t know how capable he is as a director, but I am excited to see the Thor movie, being a fan of the comic.

What do YOU think? Is he a Good Choice to Direct Thor?

Update - 10/28/2008 -

Its official Branaugh has signed on to direct Thor. According to WhatsOnStage.com Branagh dropped out of directing the current tour of Hamlet for London’s Wyndham Theatre because of the film. Guess comic book movies just got classy.
