JJ Abrams Earthquake/Disaster Movie!
Universal has announced that JJ Abrams (Lost, Alias, Star Trek) is developing an Earthquake disaster film with Omen screenwriter David Seltzer. As with any project Abrams is involved with, details are being kept under wraps, According to The Hollywood Reporter.
What it won’t be is a remake of the 1974 disaster flick dubbed simply, Earthquake, and that the film will revolve around relationships affected by the disaster. The rest of the plot is being kept under tight wraps, which is typical when Abrams is involved.
At this time, it is believed that Abrams will only produce this film, with no director attached or production schedule announced. I would assume that Matt Reeves may direct this with Abrams producing. You can also bet this movie will have the same type of relationship stuff as Cloverfield, where a guy and a group of people have to survive the quake while rescuing their loved ones from ultimate death. You can also bet this film will have a its fair share of viral marketing, probably fake news videos with reports of an earthquake happening or about to happen. Either way it is JJ Abrams involved and I will see it.
