The Flash In Development
So naturally with the Dark Knight already seeing pre-opening success…it seems that the other DC Comics characters may be getting their chance to hit the big screen. This news comes from Peter Sciretta over at Slashfilm based on his conversation with Dark Knight producer, Charles Roven at the Dark Knight press junket.
Here is what Roven had to say regarding the big screen adaptation of The Flash:
“We had hoped to be able to get a new draft going before the writers’ strike and we weren’t able to,” Rovan admitted. “And since the writers’ strike, we just haven’t been able to find the right creative compatibility between what we’re looking for and a writer and you know, we’re a little bit dragging our feet, we’re just waiting to see what’s going to happen with this actor’s strike, you know.”
This news doesn’t surprise me for a few reasons, the first reason is the success of the now independent fully functional Marvel Studios rolling out multiple films based on popular characters…DC has been behind the 8-ball. Also due to DC comics wanting the fast track from Warner Brothers due to that means this will most likely happen…sooner rather than later.
I am excited about this…The Flash is my 3rd favorite comic book character of all time right behind Batman and Superman and I think with Roven producing a realistic interpretation of the character is possible and intriguing.
