Stargate’s Don S. Davis Has Died!

Hollywood deaths have been prevalent over the past few months and sadly Gateworld has reported another one. Don S. Davis, who played General Hammond from season 1-7 and appeared sporadically throughout latter seasons, died at the age of 65 due to heart failure. According to Gateworld he left the show because of health reasons after the 7th season.

His final appearance in Stargate will be in the direct to dvd movie Stargate:Continuum. I am deeply sad to see him go and though I didn’t know him personally I enjoyed his grandfather/father-like persona on the show and will always remember him has the caring and honorable Major General George Hammond.

Wasn’t he also the General from Twin Peaks??

I didn’t know his Stargate stuff, but he has one of those faces you’ve seen a million times but never knew his name. It’s nice that you’ve honored him.

Oh I am so sad to hear this.

While I know he’s been on so many tv shows and movies, I think I will remember him most for his distinctive voice and his role as a coach in ‘A League of Their Own’.

I agree with you Adele, I forgot he was in “League of Their Own”…but he does have a distinctive voice. Also he did play the General in Twin Peaks as well.

The Television and Movie community lost a great character actor.
