LOST Thoughts and Theories from the Comic Book Store!

So I have been visiting the same comic book store every Friday for like a month. Cool Guys! (Man I hope they read my blog). Memphis Comics and Collectibles is a great place if you love comics, television shows and movies. It is based in Memphis, TN so check it out sometime if you live there or are in town.

They sell comics and collectibles (hence the name) but they love to talk movies and TV shows. One of the biggest and best shows they talk about is LOST and I am here to tell you I had an interesting conversation with them about the show.

One of the best theories that I have heard and it isn’t an important one regarding the island, Locke or “anybody” of consequence but rather regarding Desmond and the philosophy and design of his character. The comic’s shop owner (and if he reads this I hope he forgives me for forgetting his name)…I think it is Ron or John…can’t remember. He proposes that Desmond is or is based on Odysseus.

His thought is based on a few things such as his girlfriend and lover who waits for him is Penny. The wife of Odysseus is Penelope and waited for him for 20 years. Also Odysseus had to fight Cyclops’ and Desmond had to fight the guy with the eye patch at the end of season 3…there was some other things to that theory but I didn’t right them down.

I thought this was an interesting and intelligent theory towards Desmond and one that I haven’t heard before.

The conversation shifted and we began talking about other things such as Jacob being a future Locke and Jack needing to come back to island to take his place as its caretaker, which used to be Ben. I find this all strange but when Brian (one of the guys at the store) and I were talking about it…it made sense.

Read about my theory on the Island and its powers after the jump.

When I got home I was watching some videos on the internet and one site I go to for intellectual stimulation is the TED site, where you can watch videos about all kinds of different subjects given by people in the fields. One video I watched was with Brian Greene, a physicist perhaps best-known as a proponent of superstring theory, the idea that minuscule strands of energy vibrating in 11 dimensions create every particle and force in the universe.

His 20 minute speech was regarding this idea of superstring theory. In the speech towards the end and you can watch the video to hear it exactly, he talks about a device built at CERN in Switzerland called the Hadron Collider.

This device was built to test objects and their ability to travel into extra dimensions. (Watch the video for a better Explanation).

So where I am getting at? Well shortly after watching this video I was watching 3 videos on YouTube taken from a Sky One News special about the answers we have learned from Season 4 of LOST.

Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof mentioned this collider as something that may contribute to what or why the island moved or what powers the force contributing to the electromagnetism…on the island.

So my theory is:

THE ISLAND DOESN’T REALLY MOVE

The island is actually hidden in one of Greene’s so called curled dimensions in space…and when Ben turned the weird glacier wheel he powered the collider which hides the island in a small curled extra dimension of space you can’t see.

So there you have it I single handedly figured out the power behind the island…but does that mean I have unlocked all the secrets of the island…Hell NO!! So to quote Adam, Jacob is a non-corporeal being…probably Locke from another dimension…the island is powerful hadron collider that allows people and objects to travel through curled up dimensions in space and that is why Richard Alpert seems like he hasn’t aged…he has but what time is he from…that is the question or rather what dimension is he from? All I have to say is thanks Adam for making me watch The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension…I believe it dealt with non-corporeal inter-dimensional beings.

Lastly, pay attention to the title
