AICN – Early Dark Knight Review!
Ain’t It Cool News has got the an early review of The Dark Knight. It is spoiler free but it does outline the basic frame of the story, The review is very positive and parallels the movie as a mix between “Godfather 2″ and “Heat.”
The film feels more like a crime drama in a grand city scape than a typical comic book movie. It feels like Heat except Batman is Al Pacino and The Joker is Robert De Niro and just like in that film we have a great scene between Heath Ledger and Christian Bale across a table. There is also an element of a Greek Tragedy. There is a vast sense of morality at play within the film.
The Joker is almost more of a terrorist than criminal. He is not motivated by money. He wants to see people suffer.
The run time is two and a half hours. It doesn’t feel that long as there is so much going on within the film.
I have to say this movie has always excited me and I can’t even fathom what I will think about it when I see it. A mix between “Heat” and “Godfather 2″ only comes to light I think because of the realism in the crime and chaos that the movie shows. I like both of those movies but at the same time I do not know if the Dark Knight film should be compared to them because Batman is still a comic book character regardless of the style of world and movie it is. Nevertheless, everything in this review is positive and complementary to Chris Nolan, Bale and Ledger. July 18 isn’t coming quick enough!
